You Have One New Voicemail

so this story actualy starts yesterday while i was at work.

standing at the Info desk right next to the Gay&Lesbian books is usaly not that exciting. it's mostly old guys and lesbians who venture over there. but yesterday a very sexy boy starts to paruse the shelves and as the diligent Bookseller that i am i asked if there was anything i could help him find. he replied that he was ok, but there was quite the lingering eye-contact. not being good at the making of first moves i did not follow up with any "would you like me to help you find my phone number" lines. instead i went on my break and as i was assending the escalator to go get my usual two slices of pizza for lunch he and i made further flirtatious eyecontact. i return to the basement breakroom with my pizza and eat. finishing that i decide to go upstairs to read some magazines for the rest of my break. on my way up the escalator the boy is on his way down, there is further eye-contact as i make my way to street level. grabing a copy of the new Wired, hopeing to read an intrsting article about Al Gore, i lean against one of the pillars near the magazine racks. as a coworker is saying hello who should arive but the sexy boy i've been crosing paths with.
"so can i stop chasing you around the store now?"
-cute akward laugh-
"hi, my name is alex"
"hello, so what are you reading?"(yes i asked such a stupid question what do you expect of me)
"oh, just some trashy gay sex novel"
"those are fun, there's some great teen fiction about gay kids"(yep, i'm this akward)
"that's cool, so would it be too forward of me to ask for your number?"
"no, not at all"
"your not seeing anyone are you?"(internaly i laugh at such a silly question)
"haha, no, here" i hand him a post-it note with my number on it

he leaves with his friends as i try to go back to an increaibly boring article about Al Gore.
instead i go and tell al my coworkers about the hot boy who asked for my number

part two
today when i get off of work i have the plesent suprise of a voice mail on my cell. something that is already exciting as i never get voicemail let alone at work. an experiance made more exciting by the fact that this voicemail is from the previous day's boy
so when i return home, after telling my very excited roomates about the whole expriance, i return the call

the result of wich is my exciting news
tomorow i have a date

100 Things to do in the Next 30 Years: Part 1

1. write a novel. i have plenty of ideas and i'm geting alot closer to actualy starting them. so hopefuly this will happen.

2. Write a movie. i also have ideas for this but i also don't realy know how to write a Screneplay and so i will have to reasearch that but i think if i can get the first one done this one should become alot easier.

3. Become head writer for a TV show. for this i don't have one particular project but a lot of little ideas that i would like to use. most coming from my time at the Hof. this definitly won't happen untill i acomplish number 2.

4. Write a Video game. i've had this crazy/awsome idea for a Final Fantasy style RPG that i've been working on for a long time but i have no idea how one even goes about pitching an idea for a video game or even how to write it up. so this has the potential to never happen.

5. move to San Diego. I'm still not sure why i want to move to San Diego specifily but i know i want to live in California at some point and i want to live near a beach. though i'm not usaly a beach person but i feel the desire to become one. and i do love me some beachie surfer boys.

6. have a house/apartment with a library in it. and a big one, one that can fit not only all the books i already own, but all the ones that i would buy if i had the money and my dad's record collection and my CD collection. i have alot of stuff and i wish i had a good place to put it all. i'm thinking of buying an old library and turing it into a realy eclectic house.

7. learn to skatebord. this i migh accomplish tomrow morning, unless i oversleep or just wuss out. i plan on taking the skatebord i found the other night out to the park to see if i can get anywhere without killing my self. this could be amusing. i should get someone to take video of it.

that's it for now. i'm going to leave it at 7 in honor of the graduating (posably right now) Caitlin and because i can't think of any other things i want to get done in the next 30 years right now. these are the big ones. when i come up with more i will update you. till then if anyone would like to help make any of these happen please feel free to do so.

Yesterday's Entry

or, as it should more acuralty be called, the day before yesterday's entry, as i will not finish writing it and posting it untill after midnight.

so, random derek visit on wednesday. we met up and wonderd around chelsea. it was nice to see him again and we had fin trying to decide what free things there were to do. we ended up checking out this wierd "exibit" of this futureistic material that is made from 100% renuable resourses. though they never made it quite clear what those ingreadiants were, though i do know that corn is involved. there were some intresting displays of it's use. including a compleatly recyclable mattress and some intresting chairs. there was also biodegradable plastic though i'm still not sure how that works.

then we headed over to "The Center" the (The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center) where there was a realy poorly placed exibit called "Sex Worker Visions" which had some intresting peices but they were put up in an internet center so we had to stand over people at computers checking their mail to see the art. alot of it was good and both me and Derek enjoy the concept of sexworker and especialy how they view their own work and there was a lot of intresting takes on that in this exibit but we didn't stay long.

our next stop was a gay bookstore. where being the pair of homos we are we looked at art books filled with naked boys and Derek baught a realy gay shirt (that does look quite good on him) and a jockstrap. and i tried to not roll my eyes at the crapy disco remixes they were plaing over head.

so we ate tacos at Chipotles and returned to the hotel where Derek was staying with Jimmy. Derek was supposed to go out to dinner with Jimmy but decided to hang out with me till i was supposed to leave and meet up with Tim to see his brother's band. but mostly it was me trying not to grope Derek while he took a nap and then me yelling at mary cheny on CNN because she is a trator.

so finaly Derek decides that he needs to buy some gin so that he can compete in a hot boy contest at the club he wants to go to so i accompinie him. on the way i call Tim to see if he is at the bar where his brother is playing. he is so after Derek buys his gin i head for the subway to make the treck out to Williamsburgh.

after barly rembering the name of the bar (Trash Bar) i navigate W-burgh's crazy streets and find it. just in time for Tim and his possie to arive. Tim introduces me to all his friends and then i reminde him that i have already met his brother. then Dian arives. this is the girl who he has been refering to as "the corpse" for about as long as he's talked to me about her. this is also the first time i meet her and i try to not let it show how much i dislike the idea of her, and i succede quite well i must say.

we head off in search of food and to get closer to the hipsters so that we can make fun of them. there are alot of myspace jokes and we meet up with Tim's realy nerdy friend from geology classes at hofstra. we returned to the bar and awaited the two bands that were to play before Tandem Mouse (Tim's brother's band) played.

the first band was ok, their lirics could use some work but they definitly had potential. the second band was like "a bad mix of Rush and Metalica" according to Tim. to wich i say, is there a good way to mix those. after entirly too much of this band the little stage space cleared out as Tandem Mouse got set up. and not that many people returned to see them play. they were a very energetic band. very hardcore screamy and not my favorit kind of music but they were enjoyable to watch as they flailed aoround alot, nearly strangeled and/or triped each other with various cords and generaly made a mess of the place. which to our enjoyment thoughly pissed off the sound guy who looked like the child of Bowie and a chicken and was way over hipstered.

since no one stuck around for Tandem Mouse. Tim and the jersy possie headed out to the main bar after their set and we ate free tater-tots (note to self: return to bar that has free tater-tots). i was exaused and had a library book i needed to renew before midnight so i headed home.

and yesterday (actual yesterday, as in Thursday) i did a lot of nothing.

in honor

so, beacause of the recent discovery that this (the whole "So, ...(rest of sentance)" thing) is appparently my style i have decided to do this whole entry in that style

so, guy from work. things are going well, i think. we all went out tonight and i spent alot of time with him and we sort of started to have that whole legs touching under the table thing going on but im not sure where it is going or if i want it to go anywhere. we shall see.

so, old guy now no longer works at my BN good good. soon hopefuly i wont either, that is assuming one of the people i sent my resume to will ever send me anything back.

so, on the walk home found a skatebord on the side of the road with the trash, it works and i have taken it as a signe that i should actualy learn how to ride it so that i can be one of the hot skatebord guys that i love.

so, i realy dont want to be a 37 year old still working at BN and writing a novel about my youth so i realy need to start working on something and now. i actualy wrote the opening paragraph to what might become "my novel" and now i just need to write the rest.

but for now sleep.

PS: so, for some reason my directional keys and the apostrophy key are not working so thats why there is not apostrophies in any of my conjuctions. i dont understand why this is and i hope it fixes its self by tomrow.

So How Are Things?

um, things? they are well OK. but just OK. yesterday was my first day off after 7 days of working so that wasn't that great but the day off was nice i did almost nothing. as for work it has come time for me to seriously consider leaving the retail book world, as i may have told you there was a promotion avalabel at work and i went for it as i can not live on the amout they pay me and i am geting dreadfuly bord in the low level position i am in. but unfortunatly the position went to someonelse, of course in park slope it's a lesbian, stupid lesbians. so if you hear of any positions avalable at intresting companies that i might be qualified for drop me a line (i'd like something in the publishing world, as i have already demonstrated i do love me some books). as for my day off it went well enugh, i didn't leave the apartment at all, which was nice. i slept in and watched alot of TV and spent alot of the day sitting in the livingroom with the window open to the nice prospect park air (yesterday was quite warm) and trying to write. i got through an old story i wrote and fixed it up. if anyone is intrested in reading it and telling me how good/awful it is i can e-mail it to you. so i got some good news today in my lovely Gmail account, my favorit author (non american) Murakami Haruki (whom i wrote my honors theisis on, which i tell every one i see at work holding his books) is releasing a book of short stories in august, which i already know as i like to keep ontop of book realated news. the good news is two fold A: Chip Kidd will be doing the cover designe for this collection as you may or may not know Mr. Kidd had designed the covers of alot of the books i love and has also written a book of his own that i read on the recomendation of amy and it was fantastic so i look forward to see what he will do for this book cover. B: Murakami's latest novel (which came out in Japan like 2 years ago) wich was originaly supposed to come out in 2010 is now set for releace in the summer of 2007 (which is still far away but better then 5 years away).

other then that i am looking forward to the weekend as i am going home to visit my parents and probably go to H&M with my mom, where if she is as awsome a mom as she usaly is she will buy me things.

and i have been exersizing so i can't wait to see where that is going
